The Courses we will offer

Our Virtual College aims at reaching out to these groups:

  1. Women university and college students in developing countries who have no access to good feminist courses. By enrolling in our courses, they will benefit from the best international scholarship while receiving academic credit for such studies.
  2. Women training for leadership roles in Christian Churches, such as parish ministers, women religious, women teachers, etc. who would profit from studying the specific female angle of belief and ministry.
  3. Women in later life with access to the internet who want to update themselves on the latest research and thinking on issues that affect women.
  4. Lecturers, teachers and other men who want to equip themselves for better service to their female parishioners and students.

Thematic and interdisciplinary approach

diagram of the integration of our courses

A special feature of our courses is that many of them are inter-disciplinary.

As shown in the diagram at the left, their contents may span a number of disciplines, such as History, Religious Studies and Psychology.

Key area of interest, linking them all, is the field of Gender Studies.

To what need do we respond?

Our syllabus aims at making the best information available to our students. We do this by selecting the work of key scholars in various fields.

Relevant courses in all disciplines, such as literature, history, psychology, anthropology, theology and contemporary religion, will be given special attention.

Please, write to us if you have a course to offer.

These are some of the criteria of selection we use (all or some of which may apply to a specific course):
a. the course contributes significantly to research or thinking that advances the emancipation of women;
b. the information the course provides is helpful to understand the wider picture of the situation of women in society, religion and church;
c. the course will enable the student to better grasp publications about the situation of women in society, religion or church.
